3 Easy Steps to Expand Your Practice This Week

Use the experience and expertise of one Rock Star professional to expand your law firm.

Expanding your practice is way easier said than done. But that doesn’t mean it’s impossible.

To help you easily expand your firm, we have asked Heather Lo from Rock Star Remote Workers to share her top tips on expanding your law firm. Use her expertise and unique input to help expand your firm and start to build your own legal empire.

Stop turning work away!

Do you have an embarrassment of riches? The happy problem of working 60+ hours a week with no time to take on new clients? For small firms and solo practitioners, it can be easy to think that your only option for expansion is to commit to hiring new, full-time staff members (possibly creating another headache entirely).

There is another way!

Did you know that 56% of law firms use contract attorneys to meet their business demands? These experienced, freelance workers can step in to pick up the slack when you are snowed under or help you to expand your practice into areas you do not yet feel confident to tackle on your own.

Here are the three easy steps you should take if you’re thinking of adding a freelance lawyer to your firm:

Step 1

Identify the areas of your practice that could be handled by someone else. This may be projects that are too time-consuming or tedious to be an effective use of your time, or simply tasks that you don’t enjoy completing.

Step 2

Find qualified candidates who can meet the time and skill requirements you identified above. Be sure to look for people who add something to your offerings that are not already there. Even if you don’t want to use this skill right now, having a relationship with someone you could call on if needed in the future is invaluable.

Step 3

Enjoy the freedom a flexible, remote workforce can give you! Of course, the housekeeping tasks are always the most tedious. Take some time in the beginning to set clear expectations, communication schedules, and deadlines. Trust me, you will be much happier in the end!

Remember, these are short-term commitments. If you are unhappy with the arrangement then part ways and find someone who is a better fit for your firm.
