As Amanda basks in the Mexican sun, she expresses how her time away has sparked her creative juices.
Self-care and relaxation is a very important aspect of running a successful law firm. It’s easy for attorneys to get burned out quickly because their day-to-day lives are filled with documents, court appearances, difficult clients, and so much more.
In this week’s #FollowAttorneyAmanda, Amanda talks about how her time in Mexico not only inspired her to brush up on her Spanish-speaking skills but also sparked new ideas for her marketing.

Hi, I’m Attorney Amanda Shaffer on the last day of my 17-day honeymoon. I haven’t been at work since then. I’ve been keeping up with all my emails and checking on all my clients and making sure that my law partner, Aaron has been taking good care of everybody, which I have been told he has. He told me he’s been working his tail off, so I don’t have any pile of work when I get back, which sounds fantastic because I’m incredibly nervous about it. But I made sure this vacation, which I haven’t done before to make sure I took time for myself and enjoyed myself. I’m never going to have another honeymoon again. When you’re just stressed about work all day, you can’t relax. Now I feel refreshed. I feel relaxed. I have some great new marketing campaigns that came to mind during my vacation. I’m in Mexico, so I’ve been practicing my Español, which I actually have a lot more confidence in now. I would always kind of pass the buck along to Aaron to talk to someone in Spanish, but I’ve been able to communicate and that has been a really uplifting thing for me.
So I will be back – today’s Thursday, I’m flying home, and then on Monday, that’s when I go back to work for real. I will update you on what’s going on and I will also be going into my brand new office with my window and I will be so excited to film from there. I tried to set it up as much as possible before I came down here; because still, you got a little work to do, but if I don’t have a pile mounted on my desk, it will be much easier. A few court cases next week coming up. Then in July, the immigration courts are reopening and since that’s a big part of our practice, it’ll be interesting to see how that goes. So I am excited to be able to at least feel refreshed and relaxed and start work again. Not excited to leave this beautiful paradise, but it’s all the hard work that I do that enables me to come here. So I will see you next time on #FollowAttorneyAmanda. Have a great day.
