Learn how advances in mobile technology are changing the way lawyers get work done.

It shouldn’t come as a surprise when you hear that technology has become incorporated into our everyday lives. However, in the past, lawyers have been slow to adopt new technologies for their practices. But, interestingly enough, most lawyers nevertheless use mobile devices.

So it’s not surprising that according to the American Bar Association’s latest Legal Technology Survey Report, mobile lawyering is more popular than ever, and doesn’t appear to be slowing down.

Nearly all lawyers surveyed (94%) reported “regularly or occasionally using a mobile device for law-related tasks at home.”

Lawyers use their smartphones while away from the office for many reasons, the most popular being email, at 89%. Accessing calendars and contacts follows closely at 75% and 73%. Other popular functions include time and billing and expense tracking.

Small firm and solo lawyers are more likely to use their smartphones for time and billing and expense tracking.

So what does this all mean? It means lawyers are on the move and working from more than just their offices. Now more than ever, they appear to value flexibility, being able to work when and where they prefer. Essentially, because lawyers have everything easily accessible on their mobile devices, they have more options and can work remotely at any time, day or night.

Pair this with the right virtual law office package, and your firm will be prepared for anything and everything, no matter where you prefer to work from.
