My Law Firm’s Social Media Marketing is Getting Overshadowed by Current Events | #FollowAttorneyAmanda

Have you ever had a really good post or live broadcast scheduled but it was overshadowed by a current event or something random in the news? Well, you aren’t alone. 

Quite often content gets lost in the shuffle because something else in mass media pops up and takes the shine, while that can not be avoided, avoiding scheduled news broadcasts and current events will help get your content noticed. 

In this week’s #FollowAttorneyAmanda, Amanda talks about the importance of timing your posts.

Amanda Shaffer: Hi, I’m Attorney Amanda Shaffer. Today. I want to talk about timing, specifically, I want to talk about the timing of certain posts that you do or your Lives or whatever because I think it is – it can be critical and also, I think it doesn’t matter at the same time. I made a mistake last week. I did me – every Wednesday I do my game show, “Are You Smarter than a Nationalized Citizen” Wednesday at 9:00 PM. And this is the second time I’ve done something like this, where I did not realize there was either a Presidential debate or a Presidential speech going on. So I did that during the election back last year and then I did it again this Wednesday – Biden had a speech, so I didn’t even know until after. I looked – and I was wondering why it seemed like the views were down. I wasn’t sure if it was because of my contestants because last week or two weeks ago in episode seven, I had a contestant who had over 6,000 Facebook followers. So you expect there to be more viewers, but this was like minuscule. I knew my husband was out with friends. I had them all watching it. So I’m like if I’m always seeing five viewers, is it just them?

If I look at the statistics now a lot more people have watched and I also boosted it, so I paid a little bit of money after the fact, to get circulated more. So it’s just – I mean, I think it definitely impacted us by putting it the wrong time, but I never get that many views live, So I never really pay attention. I don’t know if that would really make a big difference

Regardless, it’s a little frustrating because of the consistency of doing this show every two weeks, I don’t know if it’s paying off like I’m not getting more viewers every week. People are definitely interested. People love the idea that people want to participate, but it’s about the audience too because that’s – I’m definitely getting myself out there to more people, but I feel like maybe this is – I’ve only been using immigration attorneys as contestants. And I’ve been saying for a while, I’m going to shift, probably to teachers and maybe I should do that sooner rather than later because we get the teacher of the class and all that. So, it’s always something to keep in mind when you post it. So like to go live on the hour on the half-hour, even on the quarter-hour.

But I don’t know if that actually matters. But in terms of posting, like actual posts, not just like live videos, I’ve also found that when I post them later in the day, they seem to get like, especially with an evening less views, even if I boost it afterward because I think when you initially posted is really important, but you know, there’s a lot of analytics out there it’s hard. I don’t really know what they all mean. And the question is how much do I pay attention to it? How much does it actually matter? So I’m still trying to figure out some of that stuff. So yes, that’s really all. I just – frustrated with myself for not knowing – not paying attention to what was going on in the world when I planned my last show because as much as consistency as I like, maybe it would have been better to push it a day or something so that it didn’t overlap.
